Welcome to Sandringham and West Newton Primary Academy

Welcome to Sandringham and West Newton Primary Academy!

When I first visited our school, I was struck by the special family atmosphere that permeates our community. The school serves as the heart of the local area, fostering connections among families and promoting a sense of belonging. Although this website will give you a flavour of what we offer, a visit is often the best way to truly appreciate the unique environment that we cultivate.

On September 1st, 2018, we proudly became an Academy under the Diocese of Norwich Educational Academy Trust (DNEAT). As a Church of England school, our Christian ethos is reflected in the composition of our Governing body and the values that we instil in our students.

Our educational framework is organised into one single Reception class and three mixed-aged classes, which combine Years 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and 5 and 6. While each class has its designated time, the children often share many parts of the day together, particularly during lunchtime, playtimes, and sporting events where they compete in their house teams: Balmoral, Caernarvon, and Windsor.

We also offer a nursery afternoon provision for rising four-year-olds and hope to expand this to include morning sessions in due course. For further details, please contact the school office at your convenience.

At Sandringham and West Newton Primary Academy, we encourage our children to respect and care for one another, considering the needs of others within our community. Our guiding school rules—Ready, Respectful, Safe—play a crucial role in promoting a supportive and productive environment. Our children, alongside their families, teachers, and governors, are passionate about learning in its richest form. Throughout the academic year, we employ cross-curricular themes that integrate creative arts, enriching the overall learning experience.

The partnership between our children, families, and school is of paramount importance. By working together, we are able to offer your child the best opportunities for development as a learner. We strive to create an atmosphere that blends excellence and enjoyment in learning with creativity, allowing children to actively engage in their educational journey. It is through these experiences that we aim to lay the foundations for inquisitive minds, which will continue to flourish even after they leave our school.

Parents are always welcome at our school, and we are fortunate to receive tremendous support from families for various activities, including listening to reading, gardening, and cycle safety initiatives. If you have a talent you would like to share or contribute, please do not hesitate to come in for a discussion.

We are firmly committed to safeguarding and safe recruitment practices at Sandringham and West Newton Primary School. All staff and volunteers are required to undertake appropriate safeguarding training using resources from Norfolk County Council and are subject to enhanced DBS checks.

Here are some lovely feedback comments we have recently received from parents:

“The nurture and structure my daughter has received at Sandringham and West Newton Primary Academy has given her the courage to fly at secondary school. The smooth transition to Year 7 really helped her too.” – Mrs Wright

“We have always been impressed with the family atmosphere and the caring nature of the children. I cannot commend your school highly enough for the strong foundations you provide. The music and sporting events held in conjunction with other schools in the area make secondary school a less daunting place. The good character instilled in the children by the teachers is at the heart of the school itself.” – Mrs McLeish

“We would like to express our gratitude for all the fabulous learning experiences you continue to provide for our children. We have been so impressed with their knowledge, and witnessing their progress in reading is such a joy for us as parents. Our girls continue to skip happily into school, and we are sure our boys will too when they are older.” – Mrs Setchell

We are very proud of our recent Ofsted Inspection Report (January 2023) and SIAMs Inspection Report (June 2024), both of which highlight the many fantastic offerings at Sandringham and West Newton Primary Academy.
