Lynnsport was the venue; Thursday 4thJune was the date, for Sandringham’s last sports competition of the year.
Only one team of four children could be entered so having had a little practise and lots of fun as this was something we hadn’t tried, a team was chosen, Jasmina, Henry, Ben and Clara.
Once there, we were able to have a practice and get used to the court size and get used to having a net and its height. They were nervous but excited!
There were 8 teams in total which were divided into 2 pools, each pool playing a round robin system and everyone played in each game, they were numbered 1-4. They played first to 15 points on a half court which was a bit different; points were awarded per games you won. The first game was against West Lynn who were very strong, as were our second opponents, Runcton Holme but we watched, supported, learnt and adapted our game, our scores and confidence improving. Holly Meadows were our final pool game and then winning 3 of our 4 matches, little smiles crept in. All the teams came back together and the top 2 in each pool went into the Cup competition, the remainder played in the Plate competition. We went into the Plate against Wormegay, Holly Meadows and South Wootton our enjoyment and confidence rising we won 9 out of the 12 games.
It was then the results; West Lynn won the Cup competition and the Plate winners were Sandringham much to their surprise!
