Quicksticks Hockey Tournament

Today, Friday 11th October, 2 teams travelled to Lynnsport and took part in their first ever hockey competition. It was a very different experience, playing on Astroturf rather than our school field, the ball moved a lot quicker but the children soon adapted. There 2 pools of 5 in the competition, Sandringham Saints were against, Glebe, Terrington St Clements, Marshland St James and Snettisham. Whereas, Sandringham Steelers had St Michaels, Dersingham, South Wootton and Gayton to contend with. All the matches were played over 12 minutes substituting players after 4 and 8 minutes which meant it was moving all the while. Games were won, lost and drawn but the improvement after each match was immense, they rose to the challenge and really enjoyed the experience. The Steelers managed to win their pool and following 2 playoff games finished 3rd, the Saints following their playoff finished 9th. All the games were close and played with enthusiasm and enjoyment, a pleasure to watch. The children supported each other throughout and were sporting whatever the result.

Mrs Marson and Mrs Collison both said they had enjoyed the day and the experience it had provided. All the children said they had had a great day. I certainly enjoyed watching them.
