Year 5 and 6 Home learning

Dear 5/6

I hope you’ve had a good weekend, it’s hard staying inside but I hope you found plenty to do. Your parents have my email address, so if you have any questions about the work I’ve given you or just school work in general, get your adults to email and I’ll send a reply.

The You Tube channel is a work in progress. Can you believe there’s already a channel called Learning with Mrs B! I’m trying to change the name and will let you know when it’s up and running!

I’m going to email your parents once a week but send daily emails about work for you to complete. Don’t worry, it won’t be much that needs to be done. Remember to do Tackling Tables online and read every day. It would be great if you could do a review of the book once you’ve finished it. Then we can use them in class to help other people choose books.

As far as the work for tomorrow goes:

YR6: English Book: the starter test at the beginning of the book is a great place to start. do the test and then check your answers. I know you won’t be sitting your SATs, but you do need to keep your brains active! Any you get wrong, just try again and then re-check the answers (no cheating please, remember, you’re only cheating yourselves!).

Maths book: again, there’s a really good starter quiz at the beginning of the targeted practice workbook. Try it and then check the answers. By now, we’ve covered most of the syllabus. Obviously if we were still at school we would be re looking at all areas in more detail, so don’t worry if you don’t get a particular question.

Leave the arithmetic for Monday; that can be done another day.

YR5: Reading booklet: start with the daffodils poem & try set questions 1 and 2. Think about how you answered the recent questions on the reading paper you did. The answers are in the back but no cheating! You’ve all done really well recently with your reading papers, so this shouldn’t be a problem.

Maths booklet: the first thing in the book is a yr4 test. it’s a good idea to start here because we’ve covered all of it in class. Try the test and then check the answers.

Remember to read, write a book review and complete your Tackling Tables

I hope that’s ok. Get an adult to email to me if anything isn’t clear. Remember to drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated and do some sort of exercise if you can. I think Joe Wicks is doing some sort of exercise programme at 9 o’ clock every morning.

I’ll email tomorrow.

Miss you all,

Mrs Brice
