Netball success at Smthdon!
SMITHDON NETBALL TOURNAMENT
On Wednesday afternoon/evening the Netball team took part in only their second competition as competitions are limited this year we had changed the team to give more of them opportunities. There were 7 other teams and we were divided into 2 pools, Heacham Lightning, Docking Thunder and Dersingham were in our pool. Heacham Hotshots, Snettisham Storm, Docking Dynamos and Ingoldisthorpe were in the other pool.
The matches were 10 mins one way and our first match against Dersingham began nervously, the courts are so much bigger than ours, we scored and won 2-0. After rotating the second was against Heacham Lightning, we started this in much the same way, both teams having chances but again we won 2-0. Our confidence was certainly growing, whether it was the fact we went straight back on to face Docking rather than having a break I don’t know but we played very well and won 8-0.
So in winning our pool we played the winners of the other one who were also unbeaten, Ingoldisthorpe. This proved to be extremely exciting with both teams having chances but defending brilliantly, they couldn’t be separated and Mrs Bowers felt the right decision was for both schools to be awarded first place. A very fitting end to the evening!
They supported and encouraged each other throughout, gaining confidence and were rewarded, hopefully there will be more events which will stand us in good stead as a club for next year and the full program of events they are hoping to put on.
