West Norfolk Netball Champions in Norwich

Our Netball team, representing West Norfolk as champions, travelled to Norwich Sportspark on June 19th to compete in the Norfolk Games, Small Schools Hi5 Netball.

Sandringham and West Newton were in Pool B, which we won, unbeaten and only conceding two goals. It was a brilliant performance, given the extreme weather conditions – blazing sunshine, very hot, and no breeze or shade.

After quite a long lunch break it was time for the semi-final against Great Ellingham. Unfortunately we were soon two goals down, but dug deep to get level in the second half. Then Ellingham scored to win 3-2, it was end to end play.

That left us to play Wrenningham for 3/4th place. It was a frenetic game. We came out and scored first, Wrenningham scored twice, we levelled but they went on to score just before the whistle…the final score was 3-2.

Understandably the children were deflated, they had given it everything in the heat but, as we have said numerous times, 4th place in the whole of Norfolk is a fantastic achievement. Our umpire in particular was very impressed and complimentary of our children, their game, play and attitude, which was lovely to hear.

Many thanks to the parents for their support and the gazebo!

Well done children!!!!!
