Sports Hall Athletics Competition at Lynnsport

Lynnsport, Tuesday December 5th

Today Miss Leftley took 12 children from years 5/6, 6 girls and 6 boys, to the West Norfolk Small Schools Athletics Competition at Lynnsport.  It comprised of some familiar events such as; throwing the javelin, chest throwing a weighted ball, standing long jump, vertical jump and relays, along with some unfamiliar ones; triple jump, bounce jumps and an obstacle race for good measure.  The children embraced these events and refused to give in, even when things didn’t go as they had hoped, supporting and cheering each other on, and their smiles and enjoyment of the day were reflected in their performances.   We knew it was a close race between Denver, Walpole and ourselves as far as track events were concerned, however we didn’t know the results of the field type events, as these were individual ones so it was down to waiting for the announcement.

As we had thought, the top 3 teams were; Walpole 3rd, Denver 2nd with Sandringham finishing 1st, they couldn’t quite believe it, this means we will represent West Norfolk in the Small Schools event at the UEA in February.

It was a fantastic achievement, which we are all very proud of.  Well done to all of our athletes and a huge thank you to Miss Leftley and Mrs Underwood for accompanying and supporting the team.
