Parent Forum and Literacy Cafe
Friday January 12th was a morning of ‘firsts’ for us at Sandringham and West Newton Primary School. We held our first ‘Parent Forum’ in the Village Hall, and were delighted that a large group of parents were able to join Mrs Gardener, Mr Wood (Chair of Governors), Mr Franklin (Parent Governor) and myself for the opportunity to ask questions, and discuss anything related to school. Obviously some parents were unable to attend because of other commitments and the minutes were circulated later in the day to all parents via Parentmail. Everyone present agreed that it was a positive meeting and definitely something that should become a regular feature in our calendar.
After the Forum most parents joined their children in their classes to take part in our first whole-school Literacy Cafe. It was lovely to see how excited the children were that their parents were able to work alongside them. There was an extremely productive atmosphere within all classrooms and the hour flew by! This term we are focusing particularly on presentation, punctuation and handwriting (PPH) and we hope that our parents found it useful to be able to put this into context within the classroom.
