Norfolk Summer Games 2018

On Monday the netball team took part in the Summer Games, representing West Norfolk in the small schools competition at the UEA Sportspark. The 16 teams were divided into 4 pools and played each other, the top 2 teams then went into another 2 pools for the Cup competition.

Having played very well we finished top in the first round and moved on into the second pool with Banham, Alpington and Rocklands. The sun came out but unlike last year there was a pleasant breeze and everyone was enjoying the event.

We continued the good work after lunch, winning our matches against Alpington and Rocklands. This left Banham, who were very strong and, despite trying our hardest, we lost our only match of the day, 2-1, meaning they won the pool and we finished 2nd.

Though disappointed, they had played their best and could do no more, but we still had one more match to go 3rd/4th play-off, which the children were determined to win.

By this time the sun had come out and the breeze had dropped, it was hot. Their commitment and resolution was fantastic…they wanted a medal and they got it.

It was a great day. They played as one, they supported and encouraged each other and were rewarded.

Well done to Thomas, Meisha, Kadence, Joshua, Taylor, Ben, Gracie and Nina
