Another trip to the finals !
We are delighted that our girls team fought hard to get through to the finals of the school games at Norwich UEA. Well done everyone! Read the full report from our talented coach Miss Leftley, or as she is affectionately known Miss Lovely, below :-
Winter Games Finals 2019 @ Norwich Sportspark
It was a chilly Tuesday morning, 7am to be exact, when we all, well 10 yr5/6 girls arrived at school to travel to Norwich as West Norfolk Champions at Sportshall Athletics. It was a quiet journey with no snow, unlike last year.
There were 7 other partnership winners from around Norfolk: Sheringham, Wreningham, Firside, Blofield, Cringleford, Attleborough and Woodlands. Many of which are classed as large schools therefore considerably bigger with vastly different facilities to us.
However, the girls once again rose to the occasion and produced some brilliant performances, never giving up or in. It was all quite hectic as at times there were track and field events happening at the same time which meant they were often rolling from one event to another. Their attitude was exemplary and they took everything in their stride. A new event to us was the Over and Under race which proved to be a lot of fun. There were also a few bonus races, included just for fun culminating in a coach’s Javelin throw needless to say I hadn’t a hope against some very competitive men but the girls thought it was fun.
The eventual winners were Blofield, 2nd Firside, 3rd Woodlands, we finished a creditable 7th which made the girls happy, as they said they weren’t last and they were winners anyway. Mr Dixon made comment saying, how well they had done and that they punch above their weight! We really do.
Thank you to all the parents for getting them to school early and your support. It was a great day out and they all supported and encouraged each other throughout.
