SUMMER GAMES 2019 UEA SPORTSPARK

Everyone was up bright and breezy for our trip to Norwich to compete in the county Finals. The children were excited and really looking forward to it as were the parents who accompanied them. Unlike other years only one team from each cluster qualified therefore there were only 8 teams which meant the competition was a Round Robin of matches and the team with the most points won. Unfortunately Langham failed to arrive so there were only 7; Fairhaven, Garboldisham, Wreningham, Bawdeswell, Rollesby, Methwold and Sandringham.
The first match, against Garboldisham who have previously won the tournament 2 years running, so have a good track record, as we do too, was nerve wracking. At the end of the first half we were 4-1 down but fought back to secure a draw, 5-5. As dinnertime arrived it was obvious there were 3 teams who stood out, Garboldisham, Wreningham and us but how would it end? Unfortunately the matches became a little more physical and umpiring inconsistent which took the edge off what was a wonderful day but the team played on. Finally, the results, the top 3 teams were separated by only 2 points, we had finished a fantastic 3rdwith 15 points (Wreningham won with 17 and Garboldisham second with 16).
It was a long day and we had some very tired children on the bus, who had played some wonderful netball, scored some great goals, battled hard and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, it is such an achievement.
