A wonderful day at the races !

Cross Country 10.11.22

On a bright November morning 18 children took part in the Town Cross Country at Lynnsport, over varying distances, 600m, 1km and 1.6km, according to their age group.  As always it was very well supported with large groups in each race. The course and format were similar to last year, they followed a bike that showed them the way and finished through 2 big flags where parents and schools lined the way.

The top ten from every race goes on to the next round against the top ten from the other clusters later this month, at Lynnsport over the same course.

The children though nervous enjoyed the event but commented on how different a race against other schools is compared to racing in school. They were all amazing and gave it their all as well supporting and encouraging others.

The first race (600m)for the younger ones is more for fun, they don’t go forward into the next round but our children did very well with Rex 4th, Cooper 7th with Ollie, Harrison and Zac finishing just outside the first ten which is promising for next year.

The years 3 and 4 raced over a distance of 1km, our 4 competitors, Isaac, Isaac, Harriet and Bridget racing well with Harriet and Isaac R finishing 9th and 6th respectively.

The 5 and 6 races were over the mile distance of 1.6km which definitely needed some determination, which Dylan, Lenny, Foster, Harry, Charlie, Sam, George, Finlay and Harriet had to complete.  Our qualifiers from this group were Dylan 2nd, Harriet 4th and Foster 10th.

A Great Effort Everyone!
