National League U 11s 6 a side Football Tournament

Having entered this event last year with the children saying they had really enjoyed it we thought we would go again. The 13 schools were divided into 2 pools, with us were Denver, Holly Meadows, Flitcham, Ingoldisthorpe, South Wootton and Heacham Athletic and that was the order in which we played. It was a great start winning our first 3 matches, 1-0,4-1,3-0, conceding only 1 goal. We were able to make substitutions to give everyone a taste of the competition. Our 4th match was very competitive and despite our very best efforts we lost 2-1 to Ingoldisthorpe, the eventual winners, who fought out the final against South Wootton, our next opponents, we lost 2-0. At the end of the pool matches we were in 3rd place and played 3rd placed Whitefriars from the other pool, we went on to win 3-0 therefore securing 5th place overall. It was a super team effort with Lenny making some fabulous saves and some super goals scored, Dylan getting a hat trick.

This was a great result for our children and a huge amount of credit goes to their ability to encourage and support each other allowing those players who may not have been as confident, to grow and enjoy the experience and want to do more. Their attitude never ceases to amaze me; they are a credit to themselves and our school.
