Quadkids at Lynnsport
Five girls: Lacey, Ellenie, Harriet, Nyla and Georgina along with five boys: Isaac, William, Dylan, Ollie and Edison took part in this competition.
As the name suggests there are 4 skills; 75m sprint, 600m endurance, standing long jump, vortex howler throw which everyone attempts and they gain points for time taken or distance jumped or thrown similar to a pentathlon. You really don’t know where you stand as there are heats and no one knows the times etc. It’s just about doing your best!
I must say that, especially in the 600m they really did listen to advice, inside lane, settle into a comfortable pace and gradually speed up, hopefully passing other competitors along the way for a sprint finish to the line. Obviously it doesn’t always work but it’s important to have a plan. They were nervous but once they started and team members competed it was,
“Yes, I can do this!”
I cannot fail to be proud of our children when they do their best, they encourage and support each other but also competitors from other schools who are struggling to finish. A lady came to me and said, “Please thank that girl over there for encouraging my boy as he went past her!”
There were 10 schools taking part, with 200 points covering the top 4 places which really is not very much.
Denver won, followed by South Wootton, Hunstanton and in 4th Sandringham. It was a lovely afternoon which everyone enjoyed.
Thank you and Well Done!
