Even though libraries are closed at the moment, the annual summer reading challenge will still be taking place. This year the theme comes under the title, Silly Squad!
Watch the link below to learn all about this year’s challenge:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_kyeFhHV8o
How to join the 2020 Challenge
Step 1:Join the challenge at www.summerreadingchallenge.org.uk Parents will need to set up their own account first before setting up their children to make sure they have permission to take part.
Step 2:Set your own challenge. Children are still encouraged to read at least 6 books but you can set your own challenge for more – it’s a long time until September! You can even adjust it as time goes on.
Step 3:Get reading!
Step 4:After you finish your first book, log back in at www.summerreadingchallenge.org.uk and log your book! Get virtual rewards and unlock new buddies as you get closer to your target.
What to read?
You can ANYTHING you like – books you have at home, books you have bought home from school, library books you still have on loan. You can try the ebook library, which you can browse here: https://norfolk.overdrive.com/library/childrens you can borrow books to read and books to listen to. It’s free, you just need a library card.
If you don’t have a library card, don’t worry, you can still join the library here: https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/libraries-local-history-and-archives/libraries/your-library-account/join-the-library
Happy reading everyone!

Good Morning,
I hope that you have had a successful week of home learning. I have really enjoyed reading the letters that some of you have sent to Blue Peter and I will be keeping my fingers crossed that you get some badges.
I have attached this week’s home learning grid and additional resources mentioned. I have seen that some of you have had a go at Sumdog. Don’t be deterred if the questions seem challenging. I think that approximately the first 200 questions answered form a diagnostic assessment that places the children at a level that is right for them. I will set some challenges on there later today too. I have already awarded some coins to those that worked on it last week.
Have a good week and if you could drop me an email to let me know how it’s all going I would really appreciate it. Email hos@sandringhamwestnewton.norfolk.sch.uk
With Kind Regards,
Mrs King
