Congratulations to our amazing gymnastics team. First place today. See Miss Lefltley’s full report below:-

Gymnastics at Eagles Gym

This afternoon, 04/02/2020, six children {it was very difficult choosing just six} from years1/2 competed in a floor and vault competition at Eagles Gym. Over the whole day 15 schools had taken part with each being judged on their minute to a minute and a half floor routine to music as well as each child performing a vault. The floor routine comprised of 4 compulsory elements and 6 others from 3 different sections, our choice of music was George Ezra’s Shotgun. The vault was onto, walk along and off a bench, using all the correct gymnastic techniques. The children showed no nerves and performed brilliantly, the best I think ever, their routine was complemented on, by several people there.

During the afternoon all the children also had the opportunity to try out all the equipment; parallel bars, beam, rings, uneven bars and a vault onto and off a mini trampoline. They also saw some of the gym’s own gymnasts perform. Following this the results were given out and we had come first which was a fabulous achievement, even beating the top score of the morning session. It was a superb experience and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

Super Performance!

What a lovely letter to receive this morning from none other than the Schools’ Minister Nick Gibb, recognising our wonderful Reading results in our SATS. Apparently, this put us in the top 1% of schools in the country.  I would like to thank everyone, for the hard work, not only of the children themselves, but our amazing talented staff and our wonderful parents that support with reading at home.

Gardening Club News !

Posted on February 4th, 2020

The Gardening club have been looking after the school flower beds and planting lots of bulbs ready for Spring. We have also set onions and sown beans.  In the summer we hope to have some lovely sweet strawberries from the plants we have planted.

Recently we have received a donation of lavender bushes to line the path and we are bedding them in this week.

We have all really enjoyed doing gardening and would love to do more things but we have run out of seeds and plants.  Please could anybody help us by donating any plants or seeds which you may have spare.

Learning Together Day – celebrates maths across the curriculum

Posted on February 3rd, 2020

Children enjoyed a whole day of Maths on Friday. Maths in Art, outside, in PE, in the classroom and finding out how maths is used everyday in real life. The children were having so much fun exploring maths in all its forms, they didn’t want to go to break!

Her Majesty the Queen visits us!

Posted on February 3rd, 2020

The children were very excited to see Her Majesty The Queen on Sunday, when she came to present the Sunday school with their bible prizes. Several of our children took part and read and spoke wonderfully in church. others waited patiently outside to see her walk past and have a chat.

What a wonderful day! Later on Clara Moreland, who had been chosen to receive the Queen’s Bible prize, went to Sandringham House to meet Her Majesty in person. What a wonderful honour, that I am sure you will never forget Clara.

Netball League Meet 4  @ KES 31/01/20

2nd Round Matches.

Once again, it was a damp, dismal, windy Friday; the children were all upbeat and knew the results from November were a blip. Our opponents this Meet were Reffley, who in November, had beaten us 3-1, Holly Meadows Hurricans and Kes Kats. The team settled quickly, marking well and won 3-0.  First game played a fantastic start! A break then, for a chocolate treat. Back on court against Hurricans, we had beaten them before but as with monthly games all the teams are improving so nothing is taken for granted. We soon got into our stride and with some confident passing and teamwork won 4-1. Our final match, Kes Kats, we were calm and enjoying ourselves and won 12-1.

The evening was a success, not just because they won, but in the way they bounced back, their commitment to working as a team, their work rate, being confident in their own ability was rewarded with some brilliant results.

At the end of every Meet one of the organisers pick out a player of the night, it was awarded to Sienna. Well done!

I’m glad I didn’t have to pick, I’d have given out 7

Thank you to parents for coming, helping out and your support, it is very much appreciated. A superb evening of high class netball, girls and boys!

Miss Leftley.

I would like to add a special thank you to Miss Leftley too, for such fabulous coaching!  What a fabulous result. Thank you Miss Leftley for all of your inspiring coaching to our wonderful team.
