…Well, the sun has shone brightly for the start of the school year and the class have quickly settled in and are ready to learn!

Our topic this term is: AMAZING AMERICAS.
The children have also been keen to be considered for school council this year and shall announce this week who our reps are this year.
Also, our Year 6’s are, once again, applying for the job of ‘SCHOOL PREFECT.’ This week, we shall know who they will be.

Our wonderful gardening club, have been busy as ever. Thank you so much to Mrs Windsor and Mrs Fenables, for all their helping making such a fabulous club.

Years 5 & 6 play Frizzbee
It was the last event in the Omnes series of events held at Lynnsport. This proved to be a lot of fun especially with the wind gusting but the afternoon remained dry. The children rotated and soon got the hang of the rules. Several schools took part and as usual games were played in a round robin formation. Our last game was a by so it gave them a chance to just sit and watch.

Mini Tennis Festival
This was another great event from Friday afternoon at Lynnsport organised by our cluster partnership, 2 boys and 2 girls from years 5&6 attended. We were one of four schools taking part in singles and doubles matches, finishing off with a mini Wimbledon Tournament. The children were ranked 1-4 and played their corresponding ranking from the other schools. The mini matches were scored to 7, following those matches they joined to play doubles and scoring to 11.
The afternoon ended with a mini tournament where all their names were put in a hat and drawn out and matches played, this proved very exciting and fortunately we avoided playing each other throughout. Foster was the overall winner, Charlie 4th, Amelia 6th and Bella 8th.
One said. “It’s been great, I didn’t think I could play tennis but I got better.”
Throughout the afternoon their confidence grew, going from quite nervous and I can’t hit the ball to playing good rallies and winning games. The smiles and pure elation when they had won or improved was wonderful to watch but the support they have for each other was obvious and commented on by a spectator.

Sailing Week 2
It was a glorious Monday afternoon at Snettisham, sunny with a gentle breeze, ideal conditions. For some it was their first session but they soon got the hang of it with the help of everyone else and it didn’t take long for them all to be out on the water, having fun. The breeze changed direction a couple of times and halfway through the session it dropped and rumbles of thunder could be heard out at sea, so the boats came in, although the sun continued to shine.
However with everyone itching to get wet the children divided into 2 teams and a paddle boat relay race took place. One team went off very quickly but were rather keen in their change over deciding to do it a little further from the shore which meant they had difficulty in getting into their boat. Whilst the others came to shore changed over and got away first time and went on to win, although the result didn’t seem to matter.
The thunder rumbled off into the North Sea causing us no problems and the children carried on having fun and thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Mini Tennis
This event took place at Lynnsport on a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon. It was a festival and that meant no scores were taken and there were no winners or losers on the day. As it was mini tennis 2 matches took place side by side on each court and it was scored in single points first player to 7 ended the game. The 2 boys and 2 girls from each school were ranked 1-4 and they played their corresponding number from each school. In the afternoon session there were 8 schools in total. After the games the sports leaders who were helping out then went on to play another hitting and catching game with larger groups which proved popular too.
It was a fun afternoon with lots of smiles and everyone who took part listened and tried hard, really improving with every game which was lovely to see.

A Chilly Day for Cricket
It was Finals Day at North Runcton Cricket Club today.
We were one of eight teams, St Martha’s, North Wootton, Hilcrest, Wimbotsham, Terrington, Ingoldisthorpe and The Glebe taking part in this event, the top two teams qualifying for the County Finals later in the month.
It was rather cool and windy, not the weather you would associate with cricket but we had an enjoyable day, giving it our best effort. After finishing joint 2nd on points in our pool but 3rd on run rate we entered the Plate Competition. In this we played Terrington and won 77-44, in the final we were up against Ingoldisthorpe but unfortunately lost 62-73, therefore finishing 2nd in the Plate. St Martha’s, our group winners went on to play The Glebe, the other group winners with The Glebe winning overall.
It was a highly competitive day and the standard throughout very high, we certainly improved, our bowling accuracy meant we gave away a lot less runs and that combined with some magnificent catches left us all feeling we had done our best.
